About me:
Over the course of my 11 years as an English Language Arts teacher, I discovered that my deepest passion extended beyond the content of the classroom. While I have always loved working with students and fostering their growth through literature and writing, I found myself increasingly drawn to the broader issues that impact students’ experiences in school—particularly school discipline, student voice, and the role of restorative practices in creating more equitable learning environments.
This realization led me to pursue a doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice. My research and dissertation focused on elevating student voice in restorative justice processes and designing a more comprehensive, student-centered restorative justice program at a Los Angeles high school that serves historically underrepresented student populations. Through this work, I became even more committed to reimagining school culture and discipline systems in ways that prioritize equity, healing, and connection.
As I look toward the next phase of my career, I am eager to move into a role that allows me to focus more intentionally on transforming school discipline practices and cultivating a positive school climate through Social-Emotional Learning and Restorative Justice. I believe that meaningful, sustainable change begins with listening to students, honoring their experiences, and building systems that reflect our shared commitment to justice and belonging.
I am excited about the opportunity to bring my classroom experience, research background, and passion for equity-driven school reform into a leadership role that centers SEL and RJ as foundational elements of school culture.
